Service Projects

Hi Ballard Girls Basketball Players, Our friends at Shoreline Sports Foundation has a fun Student Leadership program that I thought you might want to know about. Check it out here! Coach Sara

Dear Ballard Teammates,

Hi, I am on the board for a local charity called water first,
we work on providing clean water and sanitation to communities in developing countries. I am proud to say we have completed 2,369 projects and 0 of them have failed. Around the world 2.5 billion people do not have access to clean water and a toilet, that represents
a third of all our population. People are forced to walk an average of 6 kilometers to get often polluted and non-potable water. The burden of fetching water for families normally falls on the backs of young girls just like me, who in turn are unable to receive
an education. The water they do collect often makes their families sick, forcing people to spend their very limited incomes on treating water borne illnesses. Every year, 855,000 people die from these water borne illnesses, and most are under age of 5. These
girls and their families are unable to escape the vicious cycle of poverty.

We are currently fundraising for a community in Honduras called
La Virtud. With clean water, girls would be able to attend school, and benefit their communities. If you would like to donate to my fundraising page, please follow this link,
Also we have a walk for water on may 6th raising money water first. We will be at Seattle center and we will walk 5 kilometers and carry water to experience what millions people around the world are forced to do. I would love if you would donate or attend
the walk!

Thanks so much for your time and consideration! If you have any questions I would be happy to field them at
